This morning after making a few deliveries, mom, granny, and I decided to stop by our Farmer’s Market in Depot Park. When you first pulled up, it didn’t look there you were going to find much. There were only three vendors — two with plants and Harrington Farms. We were so very pleasantly surprised once we ventured into the market and took a look around. The crowd was bustling and vibrant. Men and women of all ages seemed excited to spend a beautiful spring morning in such a great place — and they were spending money left and right!
Harrington had a great supply of strawberries (we have tons of strawberries at our house this year since dad has his honey bees at many of the local strawberries farms), cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli, and the list goes on.
There was a dark-haired lady selling beautiful plants. Her prices were awesome and everything looked very well taken care of. Mom got a couple of gerber daisies, and we all bought several green onions that smelled as good as they looked.
There was another man who also had very nice plants — several types of shrubs, crepe myrtles, etc. We will have to check out more of his plants next time.
For some time now, several folks have been asking Jonathan and I and the Garden of Eden Specialty Soap makers Josh and Linda up at the Shops if we were going to set up for the Farmer’s Market. We have all debated it and didn’t really know what to expect. But now I am really thinking about trying it – at least with our new dips. It would give folks a chance to sample all of the new dip line.
I hope as the season progresses our little market will fill up. I will definitely be back next Saturday!

DANG!!! I planned to go to the Farmer’s Market this week and didn’t give it a thought this morning!!! I need to get into the habit of going – once I start, I tend to go just about every weekend, but need that kick in the butt to get the habit started!
I wanted to see if I could find some green tomatoes (or have one of the vendors tell me where I can go to get them) – I had my first ever fried green tomatoes a couple weeks ago and LOVED them!!! I want to see if I can make them and if they taste as good when I do it!

OMG Kim — Harrington had tons of green tomatoes! I noticed in the Herald on the page where there are like 20 or 30 smaller ads (I think on the back of the classifieds), they have an ad for their farm. They looked great. I love fried green tomatoes (and fried dill pickles!!)!

Fried pickles are my favorite…yum! (Gosh, everytime I read your blog I start thinking about food. This is not good!) Anyway, I definitely think you’d get some great business at the farmer’s market. Worth a shot, for sure!
